When repair may be discussed
An isolated damaged area, a localized joint problem, or limited concrete deterioration may be evaluated for repair. That does not mean repair is always appropriate; the underlying support and water movement still matter.
When replacement may enter the discussion
Widespread deterioration, repeated previous repairs, significant movement, collapsed sections, or extensive soil loss may lead a contractor to consider a new system. The property and existing construction need to be assessed together.
Bring the right questions
Ask what is causing the issue, what happens if the work is limited, how drainage will be addressed, and whether shoreline approvals need to be confirmed. A thoughtful scope should explain the reasoning.
Requirements can differ by project scope
Repair, replacement, and shoreline stabilization may raise different Ameren Missouri Shoreline Management questions. Treat permitting and shoreline requirements as part of the eventual project scope.
